We take privacy seriously, especially because this site touches sensitive topics: substance use, health, HIV status, and family violence. This policy explains what we collect and what we don't.
What we collect
- Contact form: name, email, message you provide.
- Newsletter: email address and consent flag.
- Listing submissions: service details and your name and email as submitter.
- Correction / report forms: the details you choose to share.
- Analytics: aggregated, privacy-respecting page-view data. No advertising trackers.
- Cookies: only essential cookies needed for the site to function and for keeping you signed in if you create an account.
What we don't collect
- We do not require you to register to read content or use the directory.
- We do not ask for ID numbers, medical aid numbers, or clinical information.
- We do not sell your data.
How long we keep it
Contact and submission data is kept only as long as needed to respond and maintain the directory, and for up to 24 months thereafter for audit purposes. Newsletter subscribers can unsubscribe at any time.
Who can access it
Only the small operating team of The Bridge Project. Data is hosted on Lovable Cloud (Supabase / EU region) and protected by row-level security policies.
Sharing
We do not share personal information with third parties except where required by South African law.
Your rights (POPIA)
Under the Protection of Personal Information Act, 4 of 2013, you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information. Email privacy@bridge.project.za. We will respond within 30 days.
Sensitive disclosures
Please do not share substance-use, health, HIV status, or safety details in our forms unless necessary. If you are in crisis, contact emergency services on 10177 / 112 or SADAG on 0800 567 567 directly — our forms are not monitored in real time.
